We are proud to partner with Circle Health Group—Britain’s leading independent healthcare provider—to recruit a dedicated and experienced Clinical Lead for the Pre-Operative Assessment department at The Priory Hospital in Birmingham.

Key Responsibilities

Provide senior clinical leadership for the Pre-Operative Assessment (POA) service, ensuring safe, effective, and patient-centred care.
Maintain a visible clinical presence, working directly within POA when required to support service delivery and role-model best practice.
Ensure full compliance with CQC standards, professional regulations, and Circle Health Group internal policies.
Lead on clinical governance within the department, including clinical audits, risk management, incident investigation, and outcome-driven improvements.
Manage the day-to-day operational delivery of the POA service to ensure seamless capacity, patient flow, and efficiency across surgical demands.
Collaborate closely with theatres, anaesthetics, surgical consultants, and bed management teams to optimize elective patient pathways.

Candidate Requirements

Registration: Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional with current, active professional registration (e.g., NMC).
Experience: Significant post-registration experience within Pre-Operative Assessment or peri-operative services, backed by a proven background in a senior or clinical leadership role.
Knowledge: Strong understanding of peri-operative pathways, risk stratification, patient optimization, clinical governance, and CQC regulatory compliance.
Skills: Excellent leadership, communication, decision-making, and organizational skills, with the ability to balance competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
