About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing & Recruitment is currently recruiting on behalf of one of our trusted healthcare partners for a talented and enthusiastic Second Chef to join a specialist mental health service in Warrington, UK.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced chef who enjoys preparing nutritious, high-quality meals while working in a supportive healthcare environment. As part of the catering team, you will work closely with the Head Chef to provide exceptional dining experiences for service users, staff, and visitors, while maintaining the highest standards of food safety and hygiene.

Key Responsibilities

As a Second Chef, you will:

Support the Head Chef with the day-to-day running of the kitchen.
Prepare, cook, and present nutritious, high-quality meals.
Cater for special dietary requirements and nutritional needs.
Assist in planning menus that promote healthy eating.
Serve food professionally to service users, staff, and visitors.
Prepare catering for conferences, events, and seasonal celebrations.
Maintain food storage, stock rotation, and inventory control.
Ensure compliance with HACCP, Food Hygiene, and Health & Safety regulations.
Complete food temperature records, cleaning schedules, and other catering documentation.
Take responsibility for kitchen operations during assigned shifts.

What We're Looking For

Essential Requirements

Must be 18 years of age or older.
GCSE (or equivalent) in English.
City & Guilds 706/1 & 706/2 (or equivalent) in Food Preparation and Cooking.
Basic Food Hygiene Certificate.
Previous experience working as a Chef within a commercial or healthcare environment.
Experience with menu planning, stock control, and food costing.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable

Intermediate Food Hygiene qualification.
Experience catering for large groups.
Previous experience within healthcare, hospitality, or residential care settings.
