About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our dynamic acute Speech and Language therapy team at Good Hope Hospital.

In this exciting role, you will focus on acute in-patient care across general medical and elderly hospital wards, with additional support provided to the off-site ward at the Norman Power Centre. You will work within a large, supportive team, gaining access to regular videofluoroscopy and FEES clinics, robust supervision, and excellent professional development opportunities.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Assessment & Management: Manage an independent caseload, delivering advanced communication and dysphagia assessment and therapeutic interventions for acute patients.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with multidisciplinary teams, sharing clinical expertise and coordinating care for complex patient groups.
Supervision & Mentoring: Support and supervise therapy support workers, assistants, and students, contributing to team development.
Service Delivery & Governance: Participate in clinical governance, audit programs, and flexible 7-day working rotas, ensuring high standards of patient care.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)

Speech and Language Therapy Degree Qualification or equivalent.
Completion of RCSLT newly qualified practitioner competencies.
Current registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and registered membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).

Experience (Essential)

Postgraduate clinical experience in relevant clinical areas.
Proven competence in advanced dysphagia and communication assessment and management.
Well-established knowledge of assessment tools, therapeutic interventions, and close multi-professional working.
