About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Priory, the UK’s leading independent provider of adult social care, to recruit a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker for Ardsley House & Cottage.

Located in the welcoming area of East Ardsley near Wakefield, Ardsley House provides specialist residential support for 13 male and female adults. The residents have a diverse range of needs, including primary learning disability diagnoses, physical disabilities, mental health needs, and autism spectrum conditions. This role is focused on viewing each resident as an individual, utilizing personalized care and proven therapies to help them build independence and reach their true potential.

What You’ll Be Doing

As a vital part of a close-knit, supportive team, you will provide both practical and emotional care to facilitate the wellbeing, dignity, and treatment of the residents. Your key responsibilities will include:

Person-Centred Support: Assisting with daily personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, eating, and drinking, while promoting self-reliance.
Daily Living Assistance: Helping with light housekeeping duties (such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed linens) to keep the home comfortable and clean.
Mobility & Care: Assisting with the safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and movement of individuals in line with health and safety standards.
Health & Appointments: Accompanying and supporting residents to attend their medical and specialist appointments.
Observation & Recording: Monitoring physical and emotional wellbeing, maintaining accurate logs, and quickly reporting any changes to senior staff.
Community Integration: Encouraging participation in social, recreational, and community activities that build confidence and meet personal outcomes.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Supporting important family connections and working alongside external specialists, including Learning Disability teams and Speech & Language Therapists.

Requirements:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (competent in verbal and written English).
Ability to work effectively both independently and as a reliable member of a team.
The ability to understand, follow, and uphold strict care policies and procedures.
A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential.
Must have the right to work in the UK.
