About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust to recruit ambitious and dedicated individuals for an exciting Band 6 / 7 Trainee Sonographer development pathway based at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital.

As part of one of the UK’s largest and most innovative NHS trusts, this fully supported training programme combines structured academic study with hands-on clinical experience using state-of-the-art equipment. You will work alongside experienced sonographers, progressing toward becoming a highly competent, independent practitioner in diagnostic ultrasound imaging.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Clinical Training & Imaging: Observe, assist, and perform a range of structured ultrasound examinations under expert supervision, learning to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
Patient Communication: Communicate findings effectively to clinical colleagues and apply a strong understanding of ethical and moral issues to deliver sensitive news to patients empathetically.
Service Development: Assist with the development of departmental protocols, maintain accurate computerized reporting records, and engage with audit and quality improvement processes.
Professional Standards: Demonstrate innovation in healthcare practice, maintain courteous conduct in challenging situations, and uphold professional codes of conduct.

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)

Educated to degree level or equivalent.
Current professional state registration (such as HCPC, NMC, or Register of Clinical Technologists [RCT]).

Experience & Competencies (Essential)

Relevant healthcare background with a strong interest in ultrasound imaging and a commitment to patient-centred care.
Strong understanding of ethical principles for compassionate patient communication.
Excellent interpersonal, IT, and problem-solving skills.
