About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is partnering with University Hospitals Birmingham (UHB) NHS Foundation Trust to recruit an effective and motivated Band 5 Deputy Logistics Manager for our pharmaceutical logistics operation.

Primarily based at the Kings Norton Business Centre, this pivotal role ensures the timely, secure, and efficient delivery of pharmaceutical products across multiple trust sites. You will lead, develop, and coach a team of up to 12 warehouse staff, manage day-to-day operational logistics and inventory control, ensure compliance with Good Distribution Practice (GDP) and Health & Safety regulations, and deputise for the Logistics Manager and Warehouse Manager as required.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

Team Leadership & HR Management: Directly manage a team of up to 12 staff, overseeing appraisals, inductions, training compliance, attendance management, return-to-work interviews, and HR processes (such as absence reviews).
Operational Logistics & Supply Chain: Coordinate material and equipment distribution, ensure inventory control and stock-taking procedures are maintained, and manage daily operating equipment and site security as a key holder.
Service Continuity & Performance: Work closely with the Logistics Warehouse Manager to provide regular updates, resolve complex issues efficiently, and negotiate scheduled workloads using strong analytical skills.
Compliance & Governance: Ensure all warehouse activities comply with GDP, health and safety, fire precautions, and Trust-wide standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Person Specification

Qualifications (Essential)

Good standard of general education to GCSE level or equivalent.
NVQ Level 4 or relevant equivalent experience in procurement, supply chain, or warehousing.

Experience (Essential)

Experience working in procurement, purchasing, or warehousing services.
Practical knowledge of professional procurement principles, supply chain management, inventory control, and distribution management.
Experience in managing teams within a structured operational environment.
