Role Overview

As the Clinical Deputy Unit Manager, you will work closely with the Unit Manager to provide a safe, supportive, and high-quality environment that meets the complex physical, mental, and social needs of the residents. You will deliver clinical excellence, lead shift teams, and confidently deputize for the Unit Manager in their absence. This role blends hands-on nursing care with essential leadership responsibilities, helping to deliver “Extraordinary Days, Every Day.”

Key Responsibilities

Clinical Leadership: Effectively manage non-qualified care staff and take on additional responsibilities for the liaison, mentorship, and management of qualified nursing staff.
Care Coordination: Maintain accurate, confidential communications regarding patient care with families, commissioners, and external multidisciplinary professionals.
Assessments & Compliance: Undertake pre-admission assessments when required and maintain an expert working knowledge of internal policies and CQC compliance standards.
Medication Management: Oversee the secure ordering, auditing, and monitoring of resident medications.
Resident Advocacy: Liaise with external healthcare professionals to make referrals and ensure holistic, person-centered care plans are fully realized.

Person Specification

Qualifications: Must be a Registered Nurse (RGN, RMN, or RNLD) with a valid, current NMC PIN.
Experience: Proven track record in a clinical leadership or supervisory role within the care sector (acquired brain injury or neurological care experience is highly desirable).
Skills: Strong organizational, time-management, and decision-making capabilities, backed by excellent professional judgment.
Flexibility: Ability to work a flexible rota to support the operational needs of the unit.
