About the Role

In this dual-focus specialist role, you will lead the placement facilitation and pastoral support for student midwives while acting as the Preceptorship Lead Midwife. Key responsibilities include:

Student Support & Placement Facilitation: Providing daily support, guidance, and innovative learning initiatives (such as induction workbooks and workshops) for student midwives fulfilling NMC clinical requirements.
Preceptorship Leadership: Supporting newly qualified and return-to-practice midwives throughout their preceptorship journey and continually reviewing the Trust's preceptorship offer.
Collaborative Working: Partnering with area managers, universities, regional Maternity PEF forums, and Local Maternity & Neonatal Services (LMNS) to ensure educational consistency and high standards.
Data & Quality Improvement: Analyzing educational audits, identifying trends, and leading change projects to enhance the quality of clinical placements.

About You

We are looking for an inspiring, clinically competent midwife who meets the following essential criteria:

Registration & Qualifications: Registered Midwife with current NMC registration, educated to degree level, with a Level 7 qualification (or equivalent experience).
Knowledge: Sound understanding of NMC standards for student supervision/assessment, the National Preceptorship Framework for Midwifery, and the LMNS.
Experience: Significant post-registration experience accompanied by background experience in an education, training, or people development role.
Skills: Excellent interpersonal, communication, presentation, and autonomous workload management skills.
