Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is recruiting three experienced Allocations & Lettings Officers on behalf of Redbridge Council. This is an excellent opportunity to join a busy Housing Needs service, supporting residents with housing solutions while ensuring homes are allocated fairly, efficiently, and in accordance with housing legislation.

About the Role

As an Allocations & Lettings Officer, you will play a key role in allocating permanent and temporary accommodation, managing the lettings process, and supporting vulnerable households to access suitable housing.

Working within the Housing Supply Team, you will ensure that housing allocations comply with relevant legislation, council policies, and best practice while providing high-quality advice and support to applicants.

Key Responsibilities

Allocate permanent homes in line with the Housing Act 1996 (Part VI) and the Council's Housing Allocations Scheme.
Manage the allocation and letting of temporary accommodation and Private Rented Sector Offers (PRSOs).
Verify applicants' eligibility, housing circumstances, finances, and supporting documentation.
Conduct interviews, home visits, and suitability assessments where required.
Manage direct matching for applicants with medical needs, hospital discharges, management transfers, sheltered housing, and under-occupiers.
Provide comprehensive housing advice and explain housing options to customers.
Complete affordability assessments and support customers through the sign-up process.
Issue decisions relating to refusals of suitable temporary accommodation in accordance with housing legislation.
Maintain accurate case records and update housing management systems.
Work collaboratively with internal teams, registered housing providers, health services, and external agencies to achieve positive housing outcomes.

About You

We're looking for candidates who have:

Experience working within housing allocations, housing needs, homelessness prevention, or lettings services.
Strong knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 (Part VI) and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
Understanding of welfare reform, temporary accommodation processes, and housing legislation.
Experience supporting vulnerable customers in a frontline housing environment.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
Experience maintaining accurate records and using housing management systems.
Confidence working independently while contributing effectively within a team.

Experience within a local authority housing service is highly desirable.
