About the Role

Supportive Bridge Staffing Agency is proud to partner with Priory Adult Care, the UK’s leading independent provider of specialist adult care services, to recruit a dedicated Female Support Worker for Gateholme in Wakefield.

Beautifully set in the countryside surroundings of Carr Gate, Gateholme provides a warm residential setting for 39 individuals with a variety of needs, including autism, learning disabilities, and complex healthcare requirements. The team is deeply committed to a person-centered approach, empowering every resident to build independence, achieve their personal goals, and live their best life possible.

Due to a genuine occupational requirement based on the personal care needs of the residents, this specific vacancy is open to female applicants only.

What You’ll Be Doing

Working alongside a passionate and close-knit care team, you will provide both practical and emotional support to ensure our residents' dignity, wellbeing, and safety. Your key responsibilities will include:

Person-Centred Care: Assisting with daily personal care tasks, including washing, dressing, eating, and drinking.
Daily Living Assistance: Helping with light housekeeping duties (such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed linens) to maintain a clean, pleasant home environment.
Mobility Support: Assisting with the safe lifting, transferring, repositioning, and movement of residents in line with safety guidelines.
Community & Health: Accompanying residents to medical appointments and encouraging active participation in social and recreational activities that promote personal growth.
Observation & Documentation: Monitoring residents' physical and emotional wellbeing, maintaining accurate daily notes, and quickly reporting any changes to senior staff.
Connection & Collaboration: Helping residents maintain vital family connections and liaising with external specialists, including Learning Disability teams and Speech & Language Therapists.

Requirements:

A naturally caring, patient, and empathetic nature.
Emotional resilience—the ability to stay positive and supportive through both the highs and lows.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills (competent in verbal and written English).
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
A proactive approach to anticipating needs and responding to challenges safely.
A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential.
Must have the right to work in the UK.
